Solihull's MP, Lorely Burt today launched her own appeal asking for support from women across her constituency to help save Solihull's maternity services.
Mrs Burt will write to over 30,000 women over the next few weeks, using volunteer deliverers and at no cost to the taxpayer, calling on them to back her campaign to save Solihull's maternity care services by signing and returning her petition.
"I will continue to fight tooth and nail for the retention of full local maternity care at Solihull. However, it is vitally important that NHS bosses understand the strength of public feeling about their plans to downgrade facilities here.
"They really must find a way to keep the teamwork and skills built up at Solihull for local maternity care, otherwise I fear it will be the beginning of the end for maternity at Solihull Hospital."
Lorely has already raised questions in Parliament and tabled an Early Day Motion calling for better funding for the Solihull service.
