LibDem MEP Liz Lynne has today praised LibDem Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable's speech to the party's Spring Conference in Harrogate.
The Vice- President of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee in the European Parliament strongly welcomed Vince Cable's call for an EU wide crack down on corporate tax avoidance similar to the one proposed by President Barack Obama in the USA.
Liz said:
"What Vince Cable said was absolutely right. There is an urgent need for us to crack down on corporate tax avoidance and ensure that companies operating in the UK are paying their fair share.
"This is not a problem that can be solved just at national level, we need to cooperate across the whole of Europe to close tax havens and shut the loopholes. By working with other European Countries we can help hold companies to account.
"Vince's speech was excellent and showed yet again that he, not Alistair Darling nor George Osborne is the man with the knowledge and the ability to help bring the UK out of recession.
